Ray Allard’s improvisational mark making embraces the moment, recording a response to his environment; capturing movement and purpose. Allard’s prints and drawings reflect energy and emotion, carrying musical undertones as he takes the viewer on a walk in the Jazz Forest. In essence, “Jazz is like a walk in the woods…the north woods especially, but any woods is ok. Both share in common an improvisational nature, and the experience of each is a trek of several small discoveries. It is encouraging to think that the same pleasure can be attained thru the graphic image.” – Ray Allard
